چکیده

Today the treatment of adult patients with complex dental problems often requires an interdisciplinary collaboration between different specialties of dental medicine among them frequently orthodontics: interdisciplinary orthodontics. The advancements in material science, biomechanics and in understanding the biology of the alveolar bone led to improved treatments of cases that once seem to be hopeless. The orthodontist, the surgeon and the periodontist work on the same biological substrate: the alveolar bone. Lack of alveolar bone support is probably the most common and challenging dilemma confronting this interdisciplinary team. The paper will discuss and evaluate periodontal lesions like bone dehiscence or fenestration, age-related changes of the bone, the lag time, special biomechanical considerations and the effect of intrusion and extrusion of teeth in patients with periodontal disease. The orthodontic tooth movement, even in vertical or horizontal plane, has a great osteogenic potential. The positive influence of orthodontic tissue regeneration (OTR) on the depth and the breadth of the alveolar bone will be highlighted in various clinical cases. In conclusion interdisciplinary orthodontics can contribute significantly to overcome challenging bone defects in adult patients, joining the new regenerative paradigm of modern dental medicine. Key-Words: interdisciplinary adult orthodontics, bone dehiscence, bone fenestration, bone remodeling, lag time, orthodontic extrusion, premolar distalization, osteogenic potential, regenerative paradigm

The effect of platelet-rich plasma on human mesenchymal stem cell-induced bone regeneration of canine alveolar defects with calcium phosphate-based scaffolds

Objective(s): Autologous bone transplantation known as the “gold standard” to reconstruction of osseous defects has known disadvantages. This study was designed to explore the effects of hydroxy-apatite/tricalcium-phosphate (HA/TCP) and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) on the osteogenesis ability of human adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hAdMSCs) in vitro and in vivo. Materials and Methods: hA...

Effects of Human Adipose-derived Stem Cells and Platelet-rich Plasma on Healing Response of Canine Alveolar Surgical Bone Defects

Background: Due to the known disadvantages of autologous bone grafting, tissue engineering approaches have become an attractive method for ridge augmentation in dentistry. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study conducted to evaluate the potential therapeutic capacity of PRP-assisted hADSCs seeded on HA/TCP granules on regenerative healing response of canine alveolar surgical bone...

Advanced tissue engineering in periodontal Regeneration

The old wishes of people were to regenerate lost tissues of periodontium that this fact is achieved by gen and cell therapy .Periodontal disease is a chronic inflammation around the tooth by microbes that causes destruction of supporting structure of tissue of tooth such as alveolar bone, cementum and periodontal ligament. For treatment of periodontal diseases we can use the biomaterials which ...

Combined Hydroxyapatite Scaffold and Stem Cell from Human Exfoliated Deciduous Teeth Modulating Alveolar Bone Regeneration via Regulating Receptor Activator of Nuclear Factor-Κb and Osteoprotegerin System

Background: Tissue engineering using Stem cell from Human Exfoliated Deciduous Teeth (SHED) and a natural biomaterials biomaterial scaffold has become a promising therapy for the alveolar bone defect. The aim of this study was to analyze the Osteoprotegerin (OPG) and Receptor Activator of NF-Κb ligand (RANKL) expression after the application of Hydroxyapatite scaffold and SHED.Methods: A labora...

Multidisciplinary approach to an asymmetric traumatic occlusion: a case report.

The case of a 47-year-old female patient with an asymmetric traumatic occlusion, great alveolar destruction in the mandibular left central incisor, gingival recession with attachment loss and lack o fkeratinized tissue more accentuated in the crossbite teeth is described. This situation was caused by the traumatic position of the teeth, aggravated by a forced asymmetric anterior position of the...
